Woman, 73, killed after being hit by a bus on busy shopping street as cops launch probe

AN elderly woman has tragically died after being hit by a bus on a busy street last night.

Police have issued a probe after the 73-year-old was struck on Neasden Lane, near Dudden Hill Lane junction just before 6pm.

Paramedics rushed to the scene where she was later pronounced dead.

The pensioner is yet to be identified publicly, however, police have confirmed they are working to inform her next of kin.

In an update provided by the Metropolitan Police it was announced that no one has been arrested in connection at this stage.

The force also confirmed the driver of the bus is now assisting with the ongoing investigation.

The busy shopping street was closed for multiple hours following the tragic incident, but has since reopened.

Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 17:58hrs on Sunday, 17 August following reports of a serious road traffic collision in Neasden, Brent.

“Officers were joined by the London Ambulance Service at the junction of Neasden Lane with Dudden Hill Lane, where a bus had been in collision with a pedestrian.

“Sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency services, a 73-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Enquiries are underway to inform her next of kin.”
