Woman dies and driver left fighting for life after car smashes into wall in horror Scots crash

A PENSIONER has died, and another is fighting for his life after their car careered off the road and crashed into a wall.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Corsebar Road in Paisley earlier this afternoon.

The incident, which occurred at around 12:30 pm, involved a silver Kia Ceed that left the road and struck a wall.

A 76-year-old female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

While the driver of the car, a 78-year-old man, was rushed to hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Police closed the road for around six hours to conduct an investigation, with it reopening fully at 6:25 pm.

Authorities are now appealing for information and urging members of the public to come forward if they have dashcam footage from the area.

Officers paid tribute to the woman who lost her life as they launched their appeal.

Sergeant Ally Wright said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman involved.

“Our investigation to establish the full circumstances is ongoing, and I would urge anyone with information, or who may have dashcam footage from the area, to get in touch.”

This comes just days after a motorcyclist tragically died in a separate collision in the Highlands.

Emergency services were called to the scene on the A827, around six miles east of Killin near Lawers, at approximately 4:25 pm on Friday, 11 April.

The incident involved a black Ducati M1200 motorcycle that left the road and collided with a wall.

The rider, a 67-year-old man, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
