POLICE are launching a desperate appeal for information after a woman in her 20s was allegedly raped at a children’s play park.

Members of the public who are believed to have been in the area at the time of the incident have been urged to come forward.

Just after 5pm on Monday, cops received a report that a woman in her 20s was allegedly raped in a children’s park in Bexhill, Suffolk.

An investigation into the horror incident was launched immediately and officers are now searching for a suspect.

Police said they are looking for a white man wearing a short-sleeved top and trousers, who was not believed to be known to the victim.

Detectives are eager to speak to a man and woman who were in the play park area with a young child from 5.40pm to 6pm.

The couple were present when police officers first arrived on scene.

Police are also desperately trying to trace a man and a woman who had their bikes in Barrack Hall Park around the time of the incident.

The pair were last seen pushing their bikes out of the play park and across Barrack Park towards the allotments.

Dedicated police patrols of the area have been put in place to provide reassurance to the community after the harrowing incident.

Detective Inspector James Meanwell said: “We are keen to hear from these individuals who we were in the park at the time and may hold key information for the investigation.

“We are also appealing to anyone who may have captured video footage in the park around that time – including on mobile phones, dashcams, or other devices – to come forward, as this could also provide vital evidence.

“We understand this incident will have caused significant concern within the local community.

“We are continuing to work tirelessly, with dedicated patrols in place to provide reassurance and visibility while we carry out a thorough investigation.”

The individuals who were in the park or anyone with any information which could assist the investigation is asked report online or by calling 101, quoting Operation Calcot.
