Milo then ran off and attacked a neighbour, 31, trying to help.

The victims was treated for serious bite wounds in hospital in Oldham last October.

Milo was seized by cops and will be now be destroyed. In November, owner Paula Jenkins, 43, admitted being in charge of a dog which was dangerously out of control.

Last week, at Manchester’s Minshull Street crown court, she was jailed for 16 months and barred from owning a dog for five years.

New legislation means all XL Bully dogs must now be on a lead and muzzled in public.

From next month it will be an offence to own the animal without a certificate.

Statistics show the breed — which makes up one per cent of the UK’s dog population — was involved in 44 per cent of attacks last year and 75 per cent of fatalities since 2021.
