A WOMAN has been killed in a hit-and-run near a school despite medics’ desperate attempts to save her.

Cops have now launched a hunt for the driver of the car, which was found abandoned a short time after the crash in northwest London.

Police, paramedics and an air ambulance rushed to the scene shortly after 3pm today, but the woman was sadly declared dead.

Children and parents outside nearby schools reportedly witnessed the horror, which occurred around pick-up time.

The car had already driven away from police prior to the collision, said the Met Police.

A young infant was initially reported to have also been struck – but the force later confirmed there had only been one fatality.

A spokesperson said: “Shortly before 15:10hrs on Tuesday, 25 March a car was in collision with a female pedestrian in Graeme Park Way, NW9.

“The car had driven away from a police vehicle prior to the collision taking place.

“Officers provided treatment to the woman prior to the arrival of London Ambulance Service. However, despite the efforts of the emergency services the woman died at the scene.

“Road closures remain in in place.

“The car did not stop but was found abandoned a short time later. Work is ongoing to locate the occupants of the car.

“There has been no arrests and enquiries continue.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson added: “We were called at 3.08pm today (25 March) to reports of a road traffic collision on Grahame Park Way, NW9.

“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, an advanced paramedic, a clinical team manager and an incident response officer. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

“Very sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a woman was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Anyone with information has been urged to call 101 or contact @MetCC on X, quoting CAD4440/25Mar.
