And now Saudi Arabia have already revealed plans to stage the 2034 World Cup in 11 years time – pushing back their initial plans to stage the 2030 tournament.

The Saudi FA released a statement which read: “Today, we enter the next chapter of Saudi football: intending to bid to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup.

“Our bid is inspired by Saudi Arabia’s transformation journey, the passion of our fans, and a commitment to deliver an amazing tournament.”

And the Saudi Press Agency said: “His Highness: The Kingdom’s desire to host the 2034 World Cup is a reflection of the comprehensive renaissance it has achieved at all levels and levels, which has made it a leadership centre and an international interface for hosting the largest and most important global events in various fields, with the capabilities it possesses.

“Economic components and a great cultural heritage.”

But football supporters are not happy with the possibility of another World Cup being staged in the Middle East where the local climate makes a summer tournament impossible.

Qatar were controversially handed the 2022 tournament.

After being awarded the World Cup, they later switched the tournament from the summer to winter for the first time ever.

And fans are fearful of another competition taking place in the region due to the huge upheaval of a winter tournament.

One said: “BIG L FOR FOOTBALL.”

Another added: “Guess it will be another winter tournament? What a joke.”

While a third replied: “Another winter World Cup? Disaster.”

Another fan said: “Another world cup in the middle of the season???? No thanks.”

While someone joked about the Saudi owned Magpies: “How many games will be played in Newcastle?”

Meanwhile, Turkey withdrew their bid to stage Euro 2028 on Tuesday, leaving the UK & Ireland as the sole bidder.
