This week’s Wyndham Championship offers players the last chance to join the FedEx Cup’s $100 million ‘Dash for Cash’ with $10million waiting for the Tour Championship winner on August 24.
The top seventy in the standings will qualify for next week’s first play-off tournament, the St Jude Championship. But a few players already guaranteed places in that event are in action this week, hoping to bank a few extra points.
They include USA Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley, who is tenth on the FedEx list, and already guaranteed a clear run through to the 30-man Tour Championship.
It is hard to know why Bradley is teeing it up. Maybe he wants to cast an eye over the likes of Jordan Spieth and Ben Griffin, both longshots to make the USA team.
He could leave with a bit of a bloody nose, as the English trio of Matt Fitzpatrick, Aaron Rai and Harry Hall are all strongly fancied to go well in Greensboro, North Carolina, along with Scottish star Robert MacIntyre.

Wyndham Championship betting tips
Fitzpatrick heads the market on the strength of his fourth place finishes at both the Scottish Open and the Open itself.
Those performances heralded a welcome return to form by the former US Open winner – but was that enough evidence to suggest he should be backed as a 16-1 favourite? I’m not sure it is.
Defending champion Aaron Rai looks better value at 25-1, and his wire-to-wire victory a year ago shows he really likes this course.
But in an event that could develop into a putting contest it is Hall who stands out, especially at a best-priced 40-1.
The US-based Englishman is one of the best around with the flat stick, and he certainly did not disgrace himself on his return to the UK. He finished in the top 20 at the Scottish Open and tied 29th at Portrush.
He also boasts two top tens in his last four outings in the States, and has been threatening to add to his breakthrough victory at the Isco Championship this time last year.
MacIntyre never got going as the defending champion in Scotland and only just made the cut. But a share of seventh at Portrush was a much better reflection on his current standing in the game. He is hard to ignore here at 28-1.
Jake Knapp is knocking on the door again, and his share of third at the 3M Open last week was a third top five finish in the last few months. At 35-1, he could be the pick of the home contenders.
Pierceson Coody has been tearing it up the Korn Ferry Tour, with a couple of seconds and a third place among seven top tens this year.
He stepped up at the 3M to join Knapp in a tie for third, and the 70-1 shot should be thereabouts again – a remark that also applies to last week’s runner-up, Sam Stevens. He is only slightly shorter in the betting, at 66-1.
Kurt Kitayama would not have been on many short lists as the 3M winner. If we are going to see another long shot come in, how about 100-1 former Major winner Gary Woodland.
And If Matthieu Pavon can recapture even a shred of his 2024 form, the 400-1 available could look very generous.

Women’s Open betting tips
The other big event on this week is the Women’s Open at Royal Porthcawl, where England’s Lottie Woad bids to continue her amazing run since she decided to rub shoulders with the game’s elite.
The former world No 1 amateur has two wins and a runner-up finish in her three outings with the professionals. But it is still amazing to see her listed as a 6-1 favourite to land her first Major, with world No 1 Nelly Korda at twice those odds.
It would be great for the women’s game if Woad can continue her sparkling start. But links golf can be highly volatile so I’ll look elsewhere on this occasion.
Lydia Ko finished strongly to take the title at St Andrews a year ago. At 30-1, she is a sporting bet to make a successful defence.
The putting prowess of Jin Young Ko makes her another player worth a second look at 50-1, while Ariya Jutanugarn and Angel Yin should also be considered. Both can be backed at around 25-1.
