Evans returned to the oche just ten days after the heartbreaking news and was playing his first European Tour event since her death this weekend.
Rapid Ricky beat former world champ Raymond van Barneveld on Friday before losing in the second round to Dave Chisnall yesterday.
Evans was targeted by sick trolls after the match and shared a shocking message he received on Instagram.
It read: “Fat s***. How you losing 6-1. As useless as your dead sister, you fat p****. You will see her in hell soon as you’re eating so much.”
Evans took a screenshot of the abuse and posted it on his story, writing: “You sick horrible human being. I’m fat but the rest, wow!!!!”
Fans were left horrified by the message, with one saying: “Vile scumbag.”
Another added: “That is beyond disgusting.”
A third wrote: “Absolutely vile what possesses people to send things like this.”
When Evans beat Van Barneveld in the opening round, he burst into tears in emotional scenes.
Fans criticised the Dutchman for the lack of empathy show by him as things became too much for Evans.
But the Kettering-born star rushed to his defence, saying: “I’m seeing Raymond get a lot of unnecessary hate on social media, and I just wanted to address this.
“Raymond was the first person to come up to me in Leicester at the recent Pro Tour events to offer his sympathy for my recent bad news, and I love and respect him massively.
“We have spoken this morning, and he wished me well for the rest of the tournament. There is no bad blood or issue at all between us, we both just wanted to win last night.”
Before going onto stage to beat Van Barneveld, Evans wrote online: “All set and ready for tonight’s match. This one’s for you sis.”
