DEREK CHISORA says he had a blazing row with Dillian Whyte after repeatedly criticising his Great British rival.

Chisora shared 23 epic rounds with Whyte, losing a controversial split-decision in 2016 before being knocked out by a left hook two years later.

In the years since, the two have become the best of enemies, with their relationship blowing from hot and cold.

But Whyte, 37, was left heated after Chisora, 41, questioned his decision to accept a bout with unbeaten 12-0 prospect Moses Itauma.

And Chisora’s stance on doping offenders needing an instant decade-long ban is also said to have fired up Whyte.

Chisora made the claim on SunSport’s latest No Glove Lost episode ahead of Whyte’s fight against Itauma on Saturday – live on DAZN PPV.

He said: “I rang him and he didn’t answer and then he sent me a voice note saying, ‘Why are you ringing me for? You’re not my friend, you’re a snake, you’re trying to take food out of my kids’ mouth.’

“But the reason why he’s upset is because a couple of months ago I did talkSPORT and I said I think if you get caught cheating in boxing, you should get banned for life because.

“Why should you have a disadvantage on someone else who’s woken up every morning, trained hard, but you train less and you inject yourself by something to beat the other guy?

“That’s not fair, so that’s my thing. I always talk to the Board that if we get someone cheating in the in in boxing they should get banned for like at least ten years.”

Moses Itauma vs Dillian Whyte – all the info

One of the biggest fights of the year has arrived

The highly-touted Moses Itauma faces the biggest test of his fledgling career as he steps into the ring with Dillian Whyte on Saturday night.

Itauma, 20, has great expectations on his shoulders – he has been compared to Mike Tyson and is expected by many to dominate boxing’s heavyweight division over the next decade.

But the Slovakian-born star – who sits at 12-0 (10KOs) is yet to face a test anywhere close to what Whyte can offer.

The Body Snatcher is now 37 and has not looked great in his last couple of fights, but the former world title challenger knows an upset win would catapult him right back to the top table.

Whyte was banned for TWO YEARS in 2012 after testing positive for methylhexaneamine (MHA) – known to increase energy.

The stimulant was contained in a pre-workout called Jack3D – which Whyte says he took without knowing it was prohibited.

In July 2019, Whyte then tested positive for an unknown banned substance before his victory over Oscar Rivas – with the bout allowed to go ahead.

But five months later the case was dropped by United Kingdom Anti-Doping in another case of “isolated contamination”.

Whyte’s third doping case came in 2023 when his big-money rematch with Anthony Joshua – following defeat in 2015 – was scrapped.

Again, the Jamaican-Brit returned an adverse finding and put it down to contamination before he continued his career overseas without serving a ban.

British light-heavyweight Anthony Yarde joined Chisora on the panel and agreed abusers of Performance Enhancing Drugs must be banned.

Yarde was beaten in his 2019 WBO world title challenge to Sergey Kovalev – who tested positive for synthetic testosterone in a separate bout in 2021.

He said: “This is nothing against Dillian but I in terms of people who have been caught or that cheat in boxing, I agree. You should be banned.

“Even looking at my career, this might be a bit personal to me, but Kovalev when I went out to Russia, again I’m a young kid in boxing, I’m a kid.

“I go out to Russia, heart of a lion, gave everything. Then he thought Canelo, he got knocked out and his return fight, he got banned for drugs.

I rang him and he didn’t answer and then he sent me a voice note saying, ‘Why are you ringing me for? You’re not my friend, you’re a snake, you’re trying to take food out of my kids’ mouth.’

“Like, how does that make me feel looking at that saying my life could be different? What if I won that fight? These are the kinds of things that go through your head that can break people.

“That can make people think, ‘I’m not good enough.’ It can ruin someone’s career.

“And we’re in the hurt business. Boxing’s a dangerous sport. If you get found drugs in your system, as Derek said, lifetime ban.”

Chisora himself was offered the fight for Itauma – but he turned down the £2million deal to preserve his No1 ranking in the IBF.

But if Whyte rolls back the clock and upsets the odds – Chisora is open for the trilogy bout to close out his 50th and final fight.

He said: “If he wins this one, maybe one more. If he wins this one, I will fight him.”

Chisora is actually hoping and picking Whyte to win – with retirement allegedly on the cards if his old pal is beaten.

He said: “Listen, I would love to see Dillian win it. Genuinely, because Dillian is from the old school.

“There’s a young buck who’s coming in the neighbourhood who’s just smoking everybody. I would like to see Dillian win it, it’d be amazing.

“And remember Dillian apparently said, if he gets beat he’ll retire after this one. That’s the rumour. But I want Dillian to win it.”
