A JOCKEY has been forced to apologise for the ‘offensive joke’ he made during a shocking post-race interview.

Millionaire rider Dean Yendall, 49, was commenting on the strength of the wind at Swan Hill racecourse in Australia when he made his ‘inappropriate’ remark.

The jockey has a history of controversial comments

He said the blustery conditions would ‘blow the t**s off a prostitute’ during a live chat with Racing.com.

Stewards blasted the jockey for comments deemed ‘prejudicial to the image of racing’.

Yendall, who has won more than £35million in the saddle, issued a grovelling apology on Instagram.

He said: “I wish to express my sincere apologies for the inappropriate and offensive joke that was made during Racing.com post-race interview at Swan Hill races.

“I would like to acknowledge that my words were hurtful and offensive to many, and I deeply regret the impact they had.

“I take full responsibility for my actions and understand that my comments were not only inappropriate but also completely unacceptable.

“I want to assure you that this does not reflect my true values or beliefs. I am committed to rectifying this situation and making amends.

“I understand that an apology alone is not enough, and actions speak louder than words.”

Yendall – who once copied Frankie Dettori’s flying dismount only to fall on his bum – also said sorry to his fellow jockeys, sponsors and management team.

He vowed to ‘educate’ himself so that he is ‘better informed and aware of the impact of inappropriate remarks’.

Yendall added: “I understand that trust needs to be rebuilt, and I am fully committed to doing the necessary work to regain the respect and trust of those who were hurt by my actions.

“Once again, I am deeply sorry for my offensive remarks and any harm they may have caused.

“I am determined to make amends and ensure that such a situation does not happen again.”

However, some punters felt the jockey had been thrown under the bus for his comment.

One wrote: “An apology for a bit of light-hearted humour. Society of snowflakes.”

But another countered: “Before he said it, he stopped, thought and then let it rip, he thought he was funny and it fell flat, he knew what he was doing and there would be consequences. Silly fella.”
