A BBC Scotland social media account has been hacked, with over 20 bizarre posts about crypto being shared.
The broadcaster’s official politics account on X, formerly known as Twitter, was taken over last night.

A series of posts were sent from the BBC Scotland Politics account, @BBCScotPolitics, starting from around 11pm.
A total of 20 posts have been shared in over an hour, with the last one being published at 12.18am today.
All of them shared links to a Monad Airdrop page, urging followers to join a crypto stock “launch event”, tagging several other accounts.
One was captioned “proud moment”, whilst another said: “Incredible to see 150k 100 strong, Bless. Stronger together always.”
Several others read, “energy here is unstoppable”, “stock = history in progress”, and “claim day gonna be wild”.
It is currently unclear who took control of the account.
However, the BBC Scotland Politics account hasn’t been used by the broadcaster for over five years.
Back in May 2021, the BBC announced that the account had “closed”, with coverage being shared on the BBC Scotland News and BBC Politics accounts instead.
The post, pinned to the top of the account, read: ” This social media account has now closed. Follow @BBCScotlandNews and @BBCPolitics for the latest”.
However, the page is still followed by over 9,000 users and is linked to the official BBC Scotland News site.
BBC Scotland has been approached for comment.
