Emergency services were scrambled to Mackworth Road in the popular seaside town at around 2:50am.
A cordon was still in place last night as the investigation on the beachfront continues.
Residents in the area reported hearing “loud bangs” at the time of the incident, according to WalesOnline.
South Wales Police confirmed it was still probing the cause of the fire.
A statement from the force said: “Once the fire was extinguished, emergency personnel discovered a deceased person inside one of the vehicles.
“Formal identification has yet to be carried out and the cause of the fire remains undetermined.
“A cordon remains in place both ways from Bungalow Avenue, which is about halfway down Mackworth Road, to the bottom of Mackworth Road by the beach.
