Alessio Tucci, 19, has been charged with the brutal murder and concealment of a corpse following his arrest in a horror killing which has shocked Italy.

Tucci dated Martina for two years since she was just 12 but she recently decided to end the relationship.

On Monday, she agreed to meet with him in the usual place they would hang out, but Martina never made it home.

Police said an argument broke out and Tucci hit her head with a stone before attempting to hide her body in a cupboard piled under cement in an abandoned building.

When Martina didn’t make it home, Martina’s mother Fiorenza Cossentino called Tucci to ask if he’d seen her.

In a shocking twist, the alleged killer then joined the teen’s parents in the car and pretended to look for her.

Tucci was later arrested and is reported to have confessed to the crimes.

“I hit her with a rock… she didn’t want to get back together with me,” he told investigators, according to local media.

Martina’s parents said the teen would never leave home unannounced, and that the last contact they had with her was at around 8.30pm that night.

She had told her mother she would be back shortly, but stopped responding, the news agency ANSA has reported.

Her mother posted on Facebook: “My daughter, whoever hurt you will pay, fly high.”

She also said: “What sin did my daughter commit?

“She was as beautiful as the sun. Now I will return home and find her little room empty.”

Tucci is reported to have admitted he did it “after an initial hesitation”, according to Avvenire.

The 19-year-old is believed to have sought to rekindle the relationship, which had ended a few weeks earlier – but Martina did not want this.

The construction worker was detained by Carabinieri police on Tuesday, where prosecutors have called him an “uncontrollable personality”.

Mayor of Afragola Antonio Pannone said: “We are all deeply saddened by the horror of the unacceptable death of a 14-year-old teenager, who was deprived of the right to live.

“It is an immense tragedy that shocks our community in the face of the barbarity of those who do not respect women’s freedom and dignity.

“I express to Martina’s family the deepest condolences of the City of Afragola and I am certain that no stone will be left unturned in the ongoing investigations to bring to justice the person responsible for such a brutal crime.

“I thank the Carabinieri, the State Police, the Fire Brigade and the Municipal Police for the professionalism and timeliness demonstrated on the operational level with the coordination of the Prefecture and the judicial authority and with the support of the efficient municipal video surveillance system.”
