Shocking footage captured the punching match between PRI leader Senator Alejandro Moreno and Senate President Gerardo Fernández Noroña of the ruling Morena party.

An irate Moreno can be seen storming the lectern at the end of the session as he demanded a chance to speak on the drug gang debate.

Lawmakers were in the middle of singing the national anthem to close the day out when Moreno demanded the floor.

He grabbed hold of Noroña’s arm and repeatedly said: “I’m asking you to let me speak.”

The senate president pulled away and responded: “Don’t touch me.”

The two then engage in further conversations with them both raising their hands in the air.

Noroña appears to try and brush off the altercation as he continues to sing the national anthem and look around the room.

Moreno remained unmoved with Noroña even claiming afterwards that he was told: “I’m going to beat the s**t out of you, I’m going to kill you.”

The aggressive remark was just the start of the carnage as once the singing had wrapped up, both men started to engage in a war of words on stage.

Officials try to pull them apart but at the moment Noroña turns around to leave Moreno grabs him by the suit and pulls him back.

The pair then engage in a fiery shoving match which is followed by flying fists and slaps from several other lawmakers who joined the brawl.

Moreno even ended up knocking over a photographer in the process as he violently shoved him to the ground.

Noroña said he plans to call an emergency session later today to propose expelling Moreno and three other PRI lawmakers.

In response, Moreno promised he hadn’t swung first and didn’t cause the brawl to erupt.

In a statement on X he said: “Let it be clear: the first physical aggression came from Noroña.

“He threw the first shot, he did it out of cowardice. Morena broke the Chamber’s agreement, and Noroña was exposed in his baseness.

“What happened is not an isolated incident or an accident: it’s part of Morena’s strategy to impose silence and control.

“That’s how their servile followers act, like Fernández Noroña, with shouts, tricks, and violence.”

The footage also showed him helping the photographer he had pushed over back to his feet.
