DONALD Trump’s top lawyer has been slammed for her handling of the Jeffery Epstein files by the lawmaker leading the investigation.
Republican Jim Comer, who is heading up Congress’s probe into the dead paedo, said Attorney General Pam Bondi has “explaining to do” after claiming a list of co-conspirators was “sitting on her desk”.

The Trump administration’s legal head later rowed back on the claim after the President branded rumours of a secret ring of powerful sex offenders a “Democrat hoax”.
In an exclusive interview with Harry Cole Saves the West, House Oversight Chair James Comer said Bondi’s shifting claims over an “Epstein list” have undermined confidence in her handling of the scandal.
“With respect to Pam Bondi,” he said, “I don’t think anyone would say she’s handled this situation in a perfect manner.”
“It’s an odd series of events,” Comer told us.
“She said she had the Epstein list on her file, then they walked it back and said there was no list. That’s a question she needs to answer.

Comer insisted the so-called “Epstein hoax” isn’t about the crimes themselves but about attempts to falsely smear President Trump.
“I don’t interpret what Donald Trump said as the Epstein Island criminal activity was a hoax,” Comer stressed.
“I think what he means by hoax is it’s a hoax that the media is trying to say that Donald Trump ever went to Epstein Island, or Donald Trump was ever involved in inappropriate relationships with these young girls, or the human trafficking.”
“That’s what Donald Trump, in my opinion, refers to as the hoax, not the crimes in general.”
Comer said, “I think he knew Epstein was a bad person, and that’s why he kicked him out of Mar-a-Lago.
“I don’t think he’s kicked very many people out of Mar-a-Lago in the history of Trump’s ownership of Mar-a-Lago. So that’s what Trump’s talking about with the hoax.”
Bondi had suggested in February that Epstein’s supposed client list was sitting on her desk waiting for review.
Though months later, she appeared to suggest she’d been referring generally to the Epstein case file, not a client list.
Bondi said: “I did an interview on Fox, and it’s been getting a lot of attention because I said I was asked a question about the client list, and my response was, it’s sitting on my desk to be reviewed.
“Meaning the file, along with the JFK, MLK files as well. That’s what I meant by that.”
Conservative figures have since demanded to see all the documents related to Epstein’s crimes, even as Trump has tried to put the issue to bed.
In July, the Department of Justice (DoJ) announced that Epstein died by suicide – although conspiracy theories are to the contrary.
The DoJ added that there was no “incriminating client list” to be revealed to the public – and no further revelations would be made regarding the case.

Meanwhile, Mr Comer also put Prince Andrew on notice – warning he will publish files about the disgraced Royal.
The Epstein inquisitor vowed to make public any communication or financial information involving the Duke of York.
Mr Comer, who is sifting through tens of thousands of documents relating to the dead paedo, said: “Anything we get we will publish.”
Last week, a tranche of documents from the Republican firebrand’s probe saw Britain’s Ambassador to the US Peter Mandelson sacked.
The Labour peer was eventually axed after a cringeworthy letter he wrote the late banker was released.
Now, a fresh cache of docs is due for release within days.
Possibly hundreds of emails or letters between the bungling Prince and evil Epstein are expected to be published in the coming weeks.
Mr Comer, chairman of the House Oversight Committee, warned Andrew he would not be spared.
Asked directly whether the Duke was in his sights, Mr Comer said while he was not expected to be snared in the next batch of documents he could be dragged back into the scandal imminently.
“If Prince Andrew’s name is mentioned, you’ll see it,” Comer said, stressing his panel’s commitment to transparency.
“We believe very strongly in due process, and we’re going to give everyone an opportunity to explain themselves,” he added.
And in a chilling warning to the outcast Royal, he warned: “I know that’s a big story in Britain and all over the world.”
