England vs Andorra preview
The international break is back – and let’s be honest, Saturday’s clash at Villa Park isn’t exactly must-see TV from a competitive point of view.
European minnows Andorra are in town for a World Cup qualifier, but don’t expect much drama.
Ranked 174th in the world by FIFA – just behind Chinese Taipei and St Vincent and the Grenadines – Andorra have never qualified for a major tournament.
They’re the fourth-lowest ranked UEFA side and have lost all four of their World Cup qualifiers so far without scoring a single goal. In fact, their only strike in their last 13 games came against San Marino.
England, by contrast, have won all seven meetings between the nations by a combined score of 26-0. Though, it’s worth noting that Thomas Tuchel’s men only scraped a 1-0 win in the reverse fixture back in June.
So no prizes for guessing the likely outcome. But this one’s less about the points – which are all but in the bag – and more about squad selection ahead of next summer’s World Cup.
That could mean opportunities for fringe players to shine, with the likes of Djed Spence, Elliot Anderson, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Noni Madueke all hoping for minutes.

Goals
As always when David takes on Goliath, the odds are fairly meagre.
Andorra will be out to frustrate – just as they did back in June, when England scraped a laboured 1-0 win. Even skipper Harry Kane admitted they “got away with it” that night.
But the stats told a story: the Three Lions enjoyed 83% possession and racked up 20 shots – 10 of them on target – but couldn’t make their dominance count.
Fast forward three months, and with England’s stars now fully up to speed three weeks into the Premier League season and with the World Cup just around the corner, we’re expecting a sharper, more ruthless display this time around.
