Palmer first limped out of the warm-up before Chelsea’s win over West Ham in the second week of the Premier League season.
He missed the Blues’ next two league games with the groin issue before returning earlier this month – only to have another scare at the weekend.
And Maresca, 45, shared an update regarding the star winger’s fitness, confirming he will require further assessment.
Maresca said: “We have to assess Cole Palmer.
“He did already a huge effort to try to play the last game.
“He wants to be there to help his team-mates in that kind of game.
‘It’s more day by day, week by week, game by game, to see how he is”.
Palmer has been absolutely instrumental for Chelsea ever since his £42.5million arrival in 2023 from Manchester City.

The forward led the Blues to the Conference League trophy and a Club World Cup triumph.
And Palmer continues to be a focal point in Maresca’s squad this season.
In fact, many argue the versatile attacker is still Chelsea’s most important player.
Palmer has amassed two goals in four appearances across all competitions so far this term.
