A FIRE has broken out on the tarmac at JFK International Airport in New York in front of horrified passengers as they waited at a gate.
Jason Graziadei said he started searching for answers after seeing the smoke erupt through the airport windows as he waited for a delayed flight.

Airport officials confirmed it was part of a training exerciseReuters
Video taken by Graziadei and shared with The U.S. Sun shows a trail of flames erupting on the runway behind a JetBlue plane on Tuesday morning.
Massive streams of water appear to be battling the large blaze as black smoke clouds the sky.
Other passengers posted on social media that they also saw the fire from inside the airport and wondered what was happening.
The U.S. Sun reached out to Port Authority officials, and they confirmed that the blaze was part of a training exercise.
On X, the airport said, “A live fire training exercise is being conducted, in which fire and smoke will be produced in a controlled fashion, away from public areas.
“There is no cause for alarm, and there will be no impact to flight operations.”
Meanwhile, Graziadei said that his trip had been delayed by several hours, but clarified that he wasn’t sure it was because of the drill.
Speaking with The U.S. Sun, the passenger said that he was waiting on his JetBlue trip to Boston when he noticed the smoke.
“I climbed up on a chair to see what was happening outside and saw a plane on fire with airport personnel putting water on it,” he said.
“It was trained because no one around me seemed to notice, there was no announcement from the airport as to what was going on so I put it on X to see if anyone knew what was happening.
The U.S. Sun has reached out to JetBlue for clarification on Graziadei’s reported delay.
