A medical time-out for Jabeur was called in the first set with the score 3-2.

She buried her head in a towel at a change of ends and appeared to be crying.

Medics immediately checked her blood pressure before removing the 2022 and 2023 finalist from court.

Her game on a packed out Court 14 was paused for a quarter of an hour.

Jabeur then came back to resume the match and eventually lost the first set on a tiebreak 7-5.

But after just two games of the second, she decided to pull out the tournament.

Jabeur has had a nightmare few years since losing the Wimbledon final to Marketa Vondrousova in 2023.

She has plummeted to No.59 in the world rankings and had to withdraw from the US Open due to a shoulder injury.

The fans’ favourite has only gone beyond the third round once in the last six majors.

Opening up on her struggles, Jabeur said before arriving at the All England Club: “It’s been a tough year, I would say. It is what it is.

“I’m trying to repeat some positive words to myself.

“I don’t want to carry the disappointment that happened before and then hopefully I can move on with it.

“The ability of believing in myself that I can come back like before, it’s been a bit low and that really affected me.

“So yeah, it’s just about a lot of believing in myself more than ever because coming back at a certain level, it’s never easy. So I hope I can overcome that.”
