A BRITISH angler on his stag do caught the world’s biggest carp — weighing in at a whopping 18st.

Gas engineer Kelvin Marston, 36, needed help hoisting up the 252lb monster in Thailand, where he has been fishing for 12 hours a day.

The dad of two posed proudly with the Siamese carp alongside a pal, dad Ray and a local at Chedi Hak.

They flew there for a 12-day fishing trip three years after their original holiday was cancelled owing to Covid restrictions.

Kelvin, of Bournemouth, told The Sun: “I was shocked. At the time I didn’t realise it was a record. I even won a T-shirt from the lake’s owner.

“Four of us had to hoist it up together. We gave it a few minutes and let it go.

“I landed another fish on Monday which was 225lb. My arms are starting to hurt and I’m ready to give in now.”

Footage shows the behemoth being lifted out of the water by Kelvin, Ray, his pal and two locals – before it breaks free.

It is the same Siamese carp heaved from the lake at the Palm Tree Lagoon at idyllic Chedi Hak, four years ago.

But the beast has ballooned by a whopping 20lbs – roughly more than four building bricks.

Siamese carp are the biggest species of carp in the world and they are found naturally in river basins in Asia.

Kelvin will spend the rest of the week fishing to celebrate tying the knot with wife Abbey, 33, before spending a night in the same Bangkok hotel as featured in The Hangover.
