A VICTIM of fake death sex beast James Clacher has told how the warped predator sent her a text asking if she’d ever been raped – hours before he targeted her.

The 46-year-old told how she reluctantly agreed to go out for dinner with the “desperate” but “charming” gym boss, who she’d met on Tinder.

But she was molested by the brute, 57, within fifteen minutes of meeting him.

The aromatherapist lifted the lid of the near two-hour ordeal in September 2019, which has left her housebound and on medication to control her panic attacks.

She said: “At first it seemed we had a lot in common – we apparently liked the same authors and were interested in psychology and spirituality. But I now know he was just aligning himself with my interests.

“He was a very friendly man and came across really well. But then he randomly sent me a text saying, ‘Have you ever been raped, baby?’”

“I was so shocked, but his response was, ‘Oh, I just wondered if anyone has ever overstepped the mark’.

“It was a red flag, but he was so charming and managed to talk his way out of it, as if he was looking out for me and assuring I’d feel safe with him.

“I said no to meeting him at first,  but he was deperate. He kept pestering me and he was very persuasive.”

They had arranged to meet at her home in Ayrshire, before heading out.

But she doesn’t think dinner was on his agenda at all.

She said: “He was acting like an excited wee puppy but I now know that’s because he had planned this.

“I live at the very end of a cul de sac and he parked his car at the entrance, facing out – I think he was planning his getaway.

“He even did a reccy of my house by asking to use the bathroom, which is upstairs, because he knew exactly where my bedroom was when he was attacking me.”

She got him a drink of water and told him to make himself feel comfortable, because ‘he seemed nervous and was visibly shaking.’

But moments later, he came up behind her, pushed her against the wall and raped her.

The victim said: “I was in fight or flight mode, survival mode. I just kept saying to him ‘I don’t like this. I don’t want to do this’.

“I couldn’t fight back, he was too strong. I thought I was about to collapse because my body was shaking so much.

“I was crying, then he stopped and pulled me towards him and said, ‘I need a cuddle’.”

Clacher then pushed his helpless victim – who was in a state of shock – upstairs, where he continued his attack, on her own bed – with the whole ordeal lasting nearly two hours.

She added: “I was screaming out in pain and then he must’ve got a fright when I started bleeding because he stopped.

“I was asked in court why I didn’t run at that point – but he would have caught me and I honestly don’t think my son would have a mother.”

Clacher ‘used pal’s passport to vanish’

CLACHER’S brave rape victim told how she believes the beast used his best pal’s passport to get to Spain.

During a trial at Glasgow High Court, jurors heard that he’d claimed to cops to have survived on berries and puddle water, while initially on the run.

Clacher admitted to police he’d first travelled to Inverness, then down the east coast of Scotland. He was then said to have made his way to England before hiding in a truck to get into France, where he said he aquired a bike to cycle to Spain, where he lived under the alias Johnny Wilson.

The 46-year-old, of Ayrshire, said: “I don’t think that happened at all. He’s obviously used some sort of passport.

“And I think he used his best friend’s one, because they look alike. He obviously is a pathological liar in all aspects of his life.”

But the mum-of-one also said the weirdo spoke about the art of survival.

She said: “He thought of himself as a Bear Grylls type.

“He also talked to me about if he ever had to survive in the wild, and things that he would do to prepare for that. He told me things like that he would sleep on the floor to prove to himself that he was able to do it if he ever found himself in that situation.

“I never for one second thought it was dead. I knew he was alive and was desperate for him to be caught.”

When it was over he knelt down to my level and said: ‘Are you alright?’ and rubbed my back, saying, ‘I know, I know’.”

Clacher bizarrely claimed he had to leave as his brother had suffered a heart attack.

Just over a week after the attack, Clacher rang her – and she recorded the call.

She said: “I confronted him about raping me and he said ‘I apologise from the bottom of my heart if I offended you. And I hope that we can maybe go on some dates and become like a boyfriend and a girlfriend’.”

The woman spoke to police after the attack but did not make an official complaint until she discovered he had raped a second woman, 31, he had met on dating app Bumble in Glasgow in 2020, then she knew she had to protect others from the monster.

She said: “I was left wandering if it was just really bad sex or if I’d been raped. It was really confronting when the other victim came forward. I’d been in denial for a year.”

Clacher – who helped run a gym in Airdrie, Lanarkshire – had denied the charges and then disappeared in May 2022, vanishing on the day he was due to be interviewed by cops over two new historical sex offence allegations. He abandoned his car at the Loch Long car park in Argyll and Bute, along with a suicide note.

Clacher was eventually arrested in May last year, by the Spanish Civil Guard while working out on a beach in Nerja in Spain’s Costa del Sol.

He was convicted of the two attacks earlier this month.

The woman said: “He’s an actual psychopath. It’s like he can mimic empathy, but he doesn’t feel it.

“He’s pathological liar in all aspects of his life – he said was a decade younger on his Tinder profile, used a false name, told me he’d been in the Parchute regiment and I even found out he was already in a relationship.

“And the thing is, he hates me, and I love that he hates me because I’m responsible for having him caught. I kept pushing for the police to issue a re-appeal, and then someone spotted him.”

The ordeal hasn’t put the woman off Tinder – but she warns users to always meet in a public place.

She added: “No one ever comes up and shakes your hand and says, ‘Hi there, I’m a rapist’, it’s just about having that awareness and getting to know someone in a public environment and ensuring your safety.”

Clacher is due back to Glasgow High Court for sentencing on October 1.
