Labour MP ridiculed for slamming Home Secretary’s asylum overhaul as ‘populist’

A LABOUR MP was ridiculed yesterday for accusing the Home Secretary of trying to appease the electorate with her immigration crackdown. Cat Eccles said Shabana Mahmood’s “populist” asylum overhaul echoed Reform and was the opposite of compassionate.
