October 7

TODAY — the second anniversary of the horrifying terrorist massacre on October 7 — should be a day of quiet reflection.

Instead, far-left mobs plan to stamp all over the memory of the 1,200 Israelis murdered that day by Hamas.

Across university campuses and elsewhere, pro-Palestine extremists will use this day as an excuse for hate.

Once again, the Government has been left to plead for calm and common sense.

But it seems highly likely the student rabble — useful idiots for the Hamas cause — won’t listen and will instead strike fear into the hearts of their Jewish colleagues.

Jewish patients in the NHS will also be left wondering if they will get treatment without abuse or sinister behaviour from activist doctors and nurses.

The Government must ensure any health worker found guilty of such appalling unprofessionalism faces instant dismissal.

True blue

IF there’s one route to redemption for Kemi Badenoch’s Tories it is by making the argument on the economy.

Shadow Chancellor Mel Stride’s party conference pledges yesterday on tax, welfare and to abolish business rates for shops and pubs were aimed squarely at growth and will be popular.

The problem for the Tories is that they are years away from putting their good ideas into practice.

Labour have made a series of bad economic choices so far.

The Tories must focus on making the case that slashing government spending — NOT putting up taxes — is best for the country now and in the future.

Fight on, Lewis

LEWIS Moody fought for every inch of ground when leading England on the rugby field.

He is now confronting a new battle.

Lewis spoke yesterday about being diagnosed with motor neurone disease at the age of 47 with such courage it was impossible not to be moved by it.

Having crushed the Aussies as a World Cup winner, he will now need all of his legendary strength and determination to guide his family through this brutal cruelty.

Jolly super

JILLY Cooper always admitted she wasn’t the best writer in the world but she understood one thing: Having fun.

She may have told stories about poshos but her raunchy romps had the whole country gripped.

In such gloomy times, her books are a timely reminder of the joy of life.
