THE RESULTS are flooding in after England and Wales headed to the polls yesterday to vote in crucial mayoral and local elections.
The Conservative Party is seeking a glimmer of hope from today’s results as Rishi Sunak and Sir Keir Starmer clash in key battlegrounds ahead of the upcoming General Election.
Overnight, the results from several key areas were announced, including a Labour victory in Blackpool South, described as “seismic” by the party’s leader.
Sir Keir said: “This seismic win in Blackpool South is the most important result today.
“This is the one contest where voters had the chance to send a message to Rishi Sunak’s Conservatives directly, and that message is an overwhelming vote for change.”
