M5 shuts after horror crash between motorcyclist & car as biker taken to hospital leaving ‘severe delays’

THE M5 motorway has shut following a horror crash between a motorcyclist and car, with severe delays ensuing.

The biker has been taken to hospital with “potentially serious injuries” following the collision with a car.

The crash occurred on the M5 southbound between junctions 7 and 8 near Worcestor, and lanes were closed on Friday afternoon.

Multiple ambulances and police attended the scene, where the motorcyclist was treated for injuries then taken to hospital.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called to reports of an road traffic collision involving at car and a motorbike on the M5 in Norton, Worcester at 1.14pm and sent two ambulances to the scene.

“On arrival crews found a man, the motorcyclist, who they treated for potentially serious injuries before conveying him to Worcester Royal under emergency driving conditions.

“A second patient was assessed for minor injuries before being discharged at the scene.”

West Mercia Police were called around 1:15pm in the afternoon, with reports of a road traffic collision on the M5.

They arrived on the scene to find the motorbike and car involved.

The crash was reportedly cleared by 2:30pm, but delays have continued.
