A MAN was arrested yesterday on suspicion of murder after one man died and another was critically injured in a shooting.
Firearms officers picked up the suspect, in his 30s, close to the scene just before 12.30am and he remained in custody last night.
Officers swamped Edgbaston in Birmingham 90 minutes earlier following reports two people had been gunned down.
They found a man in his 20s in a car.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
His family have been informed.
Another man, in his 30s, was found injured at a bus stop and was taken to hospital where he was in a critical condition last night.
Det Insp Nick Barnes, from the West Midlands Police homicide team, said: “This is a tragic incident.
“We’ve worked through the night to understand exactly what happened.
“We’ve made good progress and arrested a suspect, but I still need to hear from anyone who was in the area.”
He urged drivers who were near the junction of City Road and Rotton Park Road at about 11pm to get in touch as they may have relevant dash-cam footage.
He said: “We really need to hear from you.”
