MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly willing to include Kobbie Mainoo in a daring part-exchange deal to land Real Madrid’s Federico Valverde.

The Red Devils are said to have offered £44million plus the 20-year-old English midfielder in an ambitious bid to secure the Uruguayan star.

However, Real Madrid remain firm in their stance, viewing Valverde as a key figure in their long-term plans.

Meanwhile, United manager Ruben Amorim has reportedly questioned Mainoo’s role at Old Trafford.

Spanish outlet Defensa Central claims Manchester United have tabled the bold offer in hopes of tempting Madrid into a deal.

Mainoo, who has struggled for consistent game time under Amorim, is believed to be frustrated by his position behind Bruno Fernandes in the midfield pecking order.

He was once again a late substitute in the 2-1 win against Chelsea at the weekend and with the World Cup next year, he is eager for more minutes.

Real Madrid, however, are not entertaining any negotiations, according to reports in Spain.

Valverde is considered untouchable by the club with his status as a key part of their future project and potential future captain firmly secured.

Despite United’s summer outlay of over £200million to bolster their attack, questions remain about their midfield depth.

Mainoo, who was linked with potential loan moves to Newcastle, Bayern Munich and Napoli before the season began, may be open to a swap deal as Amorim seeks to strengthen the squad and Mainoo looks for more playing time to secure his spot at the World Cup.

SunSport understands that Real Madrid are not entirely ruling out a future deal as they look to properly replace Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.

However, Madrid’s stance on Valverde is unwavering, he is deemed non-transferable and key to their plans for the future.

SunSport also understand that one of the reasons Mainoo wants to leave is that he’s been told he has to fight for minutes with club captain Bruno Fernandes.

However, Man United insiders say that, in the eyes of Amorim, Bruno is considered undroppable.
