Man Utd vs Burnley preview
Here we go again…
Just three games into what was meant to be a bold new era at Old Trafford, Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim is already facing a full-blown crisis.
The Red Devils are winless in the Premier League after draws with Arsenal and Fulham, before suffering a humiliating Carabao Cup exit to League Two Grimsby – a side worth £765.9million less than United.
Backed with £200m of summer signings, Amorim has delivered just 17 wins in 45 games – only seven in the league – and now finds himself second-favourite in the sack race behind West Ham’s Graham Potter.
His league stats are damning: seven wins from 29, just 33 goals scored, 44 conceded, and a dismal 24.1% win rate – the same as Neil Warnock, who was relegated twice from the top flight.
But Saturday could offer some much-needed respite.
United have lost just one of their last 25 home games against Burnley in all competitions and are unbeaten in 23 Prem clashes against promoted sides – winning 20 and drawing three.
Still, when confidence is low, anything can happen – and right now, United are on the ropes.
They’ve lost eight of their last 13 Premier League games at Old Trafford, and no ever-present side has picked up fewer points since the start of April.
That will be music to the ears of Burnley boss Scott Parker, fresh off his side’s first win of the season against Sunderland.
And he’s no stranger to frustrating United – his only previous visit to Old Trafford as a manager ended in a 1-1 draw with Fulham in 2021.
In fact, of all teams to have visited Manchester United at least eight times in the Premier League, Burnley are one of three teams to have avoided defeat in more than half.

We reckon summer signing Bryan Mbeumo is decent value to get on the scoresheet against Burnley this weekend – priced at 8/5 with William Hill.
The 26-year-old opened his United account in the midweek cup clash with Grimsby, and also bagged a goal and assist in his last start against the Clarets.
Stat-wise, Mbeumo looks like United’s biggest attacking threat. He’s had more touches in the opposition box than any of his teammates, while only Matheus Cunha has registered more shots.
Up against a newly-promoted Burnley side with the fifth-highest xG conceded in the league, he looks well-placed to strike.
