Guehi was sold a short pass by Kieran Trippier and was forced into action to stop the Slovak attack.

However, he was unable to win the ball and was quickly booked by referee Umut Meler.

Should England make it through, then they will face Switzerland in the quarter-finals.

The Swiss progressed to the last eight after dispatching Italy 2-0 at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.

The defender was not the only England star to find himself being cautioned in the opening stages.

Kobbie Mainoo was shown a yellow card for a late challenge in the 7th minute.

The midfielder was handed his first start of Euro 2024 by Southagte in place of Conor Gallagher.

The Three Lions were almost without goalkeeper Jordan Pickford for the vital clash.

The Everton ace appeared to hurt himself during the warm-up but was able to preserve and play in the match.
