A MASSIVE new town with 10,000 homes is being plotted in the UK under a £48billion government scheme.
Potential locations in England were identified last year as part of Keir Starmer’s promise to deliver the largest housebuilding programme since the postwar era.

The New Town taskforce is expected to make an announcement soon on their preferred locations for 12 new towns.
Crews Hill is likely to be named as one of them – which means housing development will be “accelerated” with additional investment brought to the area.
Crews Hill is an elevated and green-buffered former hamlet grown into a small village-size community on the northern outskirts of London centred 12.3 miles north of Charing Cross.
It forms part of the London Borough of Enfield and has many garden centres and plant nurseries.
But despite it having a railway station with trains into central London it currently has a very small population of only a few hundred people.
OnLondon reported this week that “several well-connected sources” had confirmed Crews Hill as somewhere the government wants to accelerate development.
Enfield Council has already submitted its own draft plans to the government for 5.500 homes to be allocated to the Green Belt around Crews Hill.
But, if its chosen as a new town, the council would be expected to double this number of homes to a minimum of 10,000.
Additional investment in infrastructure such as new schools and public transport links would help with the venture.
Back in July, Enfield Council confirmed it would issue compulsory purchase orders (CPOs) against “unsupportive” businesses in Crews Hill to ensure its plans for the 5,500 new homes there could proceed.
The draft Local Plan is still to be approved by the Planning Inspectorate and then adopted by the council.
However if Crews Hill is chosen as a new town by the government, it would help strengthen the council’s plans reports Enfield Dispatch.
But none of this has officially been confirmed as the New Towns Taskforce is expected to announce its plans formally in the coming weeks
The initiative, part of Labour’s plans to build 1.5m new homes in their first term, comes after years in which their has been a need for housing.
The New Towns Taskforce recently explained: “By providing a substantial number of homes, including social rented homes, we expect new towns will play a role in improving housing affordability over time.
“The planned nature of new towns offers an opportunity to better coordinate essential infrastructure and public services.
“Creating communities where housing, transport, utilities, and healthcare are integrated from the outset.”
