NETFLIX had the eyes of MILLIONS of people last weekend for the historic super-middleweight showdown between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford.
But the blockbuster event wasn’t as big a hit as the service’s first venture into the sport last November.

A whopping 41.1million people tuned in to see Crawford end Canelo’s reign as super-middleweight champion.
A Netflix breakdown read: “The main event scored an estimated average minute audience (AMA) of 36.6million live+SD viewers from opening to closing bell, per VideoAmp and Netflix.
“Viewing continued into the weekend bringing an estimated AMA total of 41.4million viewers (Live+1), making it the most-viewed men’s championship boxing match this century.”
While that number is high by normal metrics, it pales in comparison to the insane viewing figures for Mike Tyson‘s controversial ring return against Jake Paul last November.
Over 108million people turned out to see ‘Iron Mike’ take part in what proved to be a glorified sparring match with the YouTuber-turned-boxer.
Canelo vs Crawford even fell short of the 74million viewers who watched Katie Taylor‘s rematch with Amanda Serrano, which was on the undercard of Tyson vs Paul, pulled in.
Netflix claim that 20.3million of the 36.6million people who tuned in to watch the fight live were from the United States.
Victory over Canelo saw Crawford cement his legacy as an all-time great by becoming a THREE-WEIGHT undisputed champion.

The pride of Ohama hinted that retirement could be on the cards in his post-fight interview.
And he’s doubled down on potentially walking away from the sport, telling Ariel Helwani: “I don’t know.”
“Like I said before, I’ll talk with my team, my family, and we’ll see what happens.
“It could’ve been my last fight. I don’t want to say just yet.”
