AN “old school” farmer clambered on a tractor to confront a teenage boy he had found outside his daughter’s bedroom — and threatened to shoot him.

A court heard Stephen Smith, 60, was woken at 3.40am after the girl invited the lad over to watch the sunrise together.

He ordered the teenager to leave, but was furious when he did not receive an apology the next day.

Smith went to the pub to watch England play in the Euro 2024 final against Spain.

Afterwards, despite having been drinking, he jumped on his tractor and drove to the boy’s home.

He rowed with the teenager’s mother and threatened to “get my gun and shoot you all”.

Worried neighbours in Studland, Dorset, called police.

Defending, Ian Daley told Weymouth magistrates’ court that Smith was “very much old school” with “certain values”.

He said his client accepts what he said was “puerile”.

He added: “He can’t recall everything that happened.”

District Judge Orla Austin told Smith: “The words you used were frightening. They did not know whether you intended to carry it out.”

Smith admitted threatening behaviour and possessing ammunition for a firearm without a certificate.

He must do 80 hours of unpaid work.
