A POLICE officer who touched four male colleagues inappropriately has kept her job, sparking complaints of gender bias.
Traffic cop Rebecca Stubbs was given a final written warning after a disciplinary panel concluded her behaviour amounted to gross misconduct last week.
But critics claimed she would have been sacked if she was a man.
The hearing was told that PC Stubbs pushed a long finger nail through a hole in a colleague’s trousers — touching his genitals — in April 2023.
She was also said to have pinched an officer’s bottom in a busy cafe; run her fingers through a colleague’s hair; and embraced a cop, telling him: “I like to hug sweaty men.”
The panel upheld all the four allegations of discreditable conduct, saying they amounted to gross misconduct.
But they concluded her behaviour was not sexual in nature.
After hearing that PC Stubbs, who joined the Met Police in 2015, had been diagnosed with ADHD, the panel ruled there was “significant mitigation” to warrant the final warning.
But former Met chief supt Simon Ovens said: ‘’Although it’s difficult to second guess a panel’s thoughts and decisions, it is clear to me that any officer should have been sacked for such behaviour.
‘’I am concerned that the panel have seen such behaviour from a woman as less serious, resulting in a mild sanction.
‘’This is clearly not the case and the officer should not remain a member of the force.’’
