Eve‘s murder sent shock waves through London’s nightlife scene, with a top shelf magazine editor and successful businessman both questioned by police.
On March 17 1975, she was brutally murdered after her Mayfair shoot in London.
She was discovered by her boyfriend Tony Priest in a blood bath with appalling wounds to her throat.
Cops believed Eve’s murder was connected to the killings of Lynne Weedon and Lynda Farrow.
But no charges were brought and the deaths remain a cold case.
A new ITVX documentary – The Playboy Bunny Murder – is revealing three new clues that could solve the killings.
‘He’s the copper’
On the documentary, the mother of victim Lynda Farrow who was murdered in 1979 – shared key facts about the possible suspect.
On the clip, Gladys Hayes revealed the profession of the alleged culprit.
Ms Hayes said she believes that the man could be an ex-police officer.
She said: “He’s the one. He’s the copper. He was an ex-policeman, ex-publican, ex-Arab minder.”
Possible motive
During an interview, Ms Hayes said she heard friends of her husband Paul Farrow admitting in front of her to murdering Eve.
She said: “They were laughing and they were saying the way he kidded to the police, and when they done that to that Eve what’s her name, that’s when she learned what they’d done.”
The mother then explained how the men revealed the possible motive of the killer.
Gladys added: “This person, they was having trouble with an Arab, right? And they’ve hired this, this man to go in after that girl [Eve Stratford].”
Chilling parallels
In 1979, Lynda was found murdered in circumstances eerily similar to Eve.
The 29-year-old was stabbed repeatedly, then knelt on her back and her head with a razor-sharp knife.
Similarly, Eve was found with with severe wounds from a stabbing on her throat.
Despite Lynda’s claims, criminologists weren’t convinced that the two deaths were connected.
Professor David Wilson explained: “I think her detective work is of a mother who is desperate to get justice for her daughter.
“What I picked up from the tapes was that there was a piece of information that she’d got from the newspapers over there, a piece of information that she had picked up from somebody who mentioned something to her from over ther.
“Almost like a magpie picking shiny bits of information and constructing a coherent whole.”
Paul Farrow was cleared by police of any involvement in his estranged wife’s death.
And the Metropolitan Police recently told the ITV programme that the policeman she refers to has been eliminated from enquiries.
