But they were called back to the parade ring when it was clear the action had to be postponed.

At the moment there is no indication when racing may resume.

According to reports on Racing TV, a member of the crowd was taken ill.

Incredibly, the incident came less than 24 hours after Pontefract was abandoned when a jockey broke his leg.

Duran Fentiman was rushed to hospital – but his journey was delayed due to a car crash outside the track in a chaotic series of events.

The racing was eventually scrapped altogether when they couldn’t get a replacement ambulance to the racecourse in time.

While an air ambulance was called to Listowel in Ireland following two medical emergencies in the crowd.

Racing TV presenter Jess Stafford updated viewers on what was happening at the Merseyside track.

She said: “The medical team are attending to a member of the public at Haydock.

“There is a significant delay there.”

More to follow.
