RANGERS hero Ally McCoist has revealed he’s got a new nickname for Scotland star Billy Gilmour after the classy little midfielder got his first club goal for Napoli.
The 24-year-old from Ayrshire has lots to offer but so far he hasn’t been rippling the net as frequently as you might expect of a player of his quality.

In fact, he’s already scored twice more for Scotland than he has at club level – in a friendly against France in 2023 then in a 3-2 Nations League defeat to Poland.
But now he’s finally broken his duck at club level too, notching a fine opener for Serie A champions Napoli in an eventual 3-2 win over Pisa which allowed them to move two points clear of Juventus at the top of the table.
He finished well – albeit with the aid of a deflection – on his left after sitting his marker down with a clever dummy – and the relief the player felt was clear as he ran off to the corner flag to celebrate.
And now it transpires that McCoist, the first team manager at Ibrox at a time when Gilmour was a young player coming through the youth ranks, has given him a new nickname – ‘PROLIFIC’.
Gilmour, of course, needs just another 402 senior goals to catch up with Coisty.
McCoist, clearly delighted to see him breaking his duck at club level, told TalkSPORT: “Tremendous.
“That’s his new nickname, ‘prolific’.
“You could tell he was in a bit of shock [after scoring].
“No, it’s great. McTominay and Gilmour have given us a new avenue to look for.
“One of the first results I look for is Napoli because of the interest it’s created.
“They had an unbelievable season last year, that run they had was remarkable. “
