The Treble winner fell to the ground as City medics swarmed the field.

After some initial treatment, they tried lifting Rodri to his feet.

But the midfielder winced in agony as he was eventually helped off the field.

Rodri appeared crestfallen as he was replaced by fellow Spaniard Nico Gonzalez.

And Pep Guardiola will be sweating over Rodri’s fitness after being without the anchorman for most of the past year.

Today’s appearance was just Rodri’s 15th game for City since the end of the 2023/24 campaign.

Last season he missed 53 games for club and country with a devastating ACL injury spanning 236 days.

Shortly before that, he missed three City games during a 43-day absence.

That was with a hamstring injury, and Rodri will be hoping he has not suffered a reoccurrence of that problem.

He’s already had to sit out two matches this season with knee problems.

And City will be desperate to get an answer from their medical team during the international break.
