A jailed crony of mobster Ross ‘Miami’ McGill faced attack behind bars just hours after the kingpin was arrested in Dubai.
Four lags linked to the notorious Daniel crime family laid in wait for the thug who is part of the rival Tamo Junto gang, headed up by McGill.

Insiders at HMP Edinburgh claim he was targeted by the Daniel mob to send a message that they’re back in control following the high-profile arrest.
The group waited for their target returning from a visit – but their attempted attack was thwarted when staff intervened.
The McGill crony can’t be named for legal reasons.
A source said: “One of McGill’s foot soldiers was attacked in Saughton on Tuesday night to send a message that the Daniel clan are regaining power after the arrests in Dubai.
“The cons all knew about the arrests long before it was reported in the papers – they’ve got illicit phones to keep in touch with the outside world.
“The Daniels and Lyons crews are kept in separate wings of the prison to prevent anything kicking off.
“However four of the Daniel crew spotted a rival heading for a visit and lay in wait for him coming back.
“They went for him but he ran away shouting ‘Help, Help’, the other cons were laughing at him and calling him a ‘chicken’.”
Former Union Bear leader McGill has been using the mysterious street gang Tamo Junto to carry out the attacks.
Homes and cars have been torched, smashed up and even shot at while underworld figures have been attacked with machetes.
A Scottish Prison Service spokesperson said: “We take a zero-tolerance approach to violence and support individuals who have been affected by it.
“Incidents of criminality are reported to Police Scotland.”
Yesterday morning, McGill and Steven Lyons were arrested as part of a desert swoop connected to Scotland’s raging gangwar.
It’s understood McGill and the Lyons gang kingpin were nicked along with fellow hoods Stephen ‘Jimmy’ Jamieson and Steven Larwood, according to numerous well-placed sources.
A source said: “This operation has been brewing for months but they never saw it coming.”
It comes after the biggest explosion of underworld violence seen in Scotland for years with powerful drug lords pulling the strings from their UAE bolthole.
