TEACHERS have been ordered to focus on the classroom ahead of a union vote which accuses Israel of being racist.

The National Education Union conference in Bournemouth takes place nearly six months after Hamas’ deadly raid on Israel on October 7 killing 1,200 people.
The motion urges the Government to “stop enabling Israel’s apartheid policies and racism”.
A vote will decide if the NEU should publish educational resources to “increase understanding of Palestine and Israel”.
Ex-Tory minister Robert Halfon said: “Perhaps the NEU should concentrate on education.
“If this was passed, the NEU would be uncomfortable for some Jewish members.”
NEU’s Daniel Kebede said: “We have a long history of standing in solidarity with Palestine.”
Education Secretary Gillian Keegan last night said that “teachers have a duty to remain impartial”.
She said: “These motions are wholly inappropriate and completely ignore the horrific terrorist attacks committed by Hamas on October 7.”
“These proposals will cause significant hurt to members of the Jewish community and the thousands of Jewish children and parents in British schools.”
