Team GB win medal but forced to wait at least 24 hours to claim it as major Paris Olympics event is postponed

TEAM GB’s Emma Wilson will have to wait another day to claim her medal in windsurfing after the event was postponed today.

The event was abandoned after a lack of wind in Marseille.

Wilson is guaranteed a medal after winning eight of the 14 races so far – booking a place in the three way final.

With the other set of quarter and semi-finals also abandoned, the 25-year old will have to wait to find out who she will face in the final.

The 25-year-old is hoping to win the bronze she won in Tokyo three years ago.

The event has been re-arranged for tomorrow.

Although a time has not been set for the event with organisers worried about the strength of winds tomorrow.

The windsurfing has been beset by problems so far.

The windsurfing marathon was also abandoned on Wednesday.

That saw competitors have to drop their foils and ‘pump’ their sails to propel themselves forward in what led to an extremely slow race.

Elsewhere in the Olympics today Britain have captured three gold medals.

Rowers Emily Craig and Imogen Grant kicked off the day with gold in the women’s lightweight double sculls.

Byrony Page then added a gold on the trampoline.

Britain’s equestrian team then added a third gold in the showjumping.
