Teenage girl ‘raped’ at popular UK festival as boy, 16, is arrested

A TEENAGE girl has allegedly been raped at a popular family music festival.

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested following reports from Camper Calling Festival, near Alcester, late on Friday night.

Police were called to the ground of Ragley Hall at around 11.40pm on Friday.

The boy, from Redditch, is being held in custody and a police presence remains at the scene.

A spokesman for Warwickshire Police said: “An investigation has been launched following a reported rape near Alcester.

“Officers were called at around 11.40pm last night (August 22) to a festival at Ragley Hall.

“A 16-year-old boy from Redditch has been arrested and is currently in police custody.

“A number of enquiries are currently ongoing and a scene guard is in place at the location.

“The victim – a teenage girl of a similar age – is currently being supported by specialist officers.”

Anyone with information which could aid the investigation is encouraged to called Warwickshire Police on 101.

The incident number to quote is 412 of August 22.

Camper Calling describes itself as a “family music festival for everyone”.

It offers a weekend of live music, woodland activities, wellness experiences and food stalls.

The Sun has approached Camper Calling for comment.
