It’s understood the 27-year-old was targeted outside the town’s fire station before managing to make it 300 yards to a nearby street where he collapsed.
Andrew – known to pals as ‘Panda’ – was discovered by a local before being taken to hospital where he died.
This afternoon the Rangers supporter’s heartbroken girlfriend posted an emotional tribute online.
Caitlin McFarlane said: “The love of my life, the person who made me smile and laugh every single day without fail. My best friend.
“I will always love you. Rest in peace my handsome guy.”
She also included some pics of the couple and a toy panda.
A friend also posted: “Rest in peace my boy.”
Another added: “Heartbreaking, actually heartbreaking!”
One shocked local said: “Apparently he managed to run round onto Newmains Road where he collapsed.
“Whatever the truth, it’s absolutely disgusting that someone else has been killed.”
It comes after Alastair Campbell, 52, was found dead on Monday morning in the town centre after he had been allegedly seriously assaulted.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “About 2.30am on Sunday, 5 November, 2023, we were called to a report of an unresponsive man in Newmains Road, Renfrew.
“Emergency services attended and the 27-year-old man was taken to hospital where he died a short time later.
“The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.
“A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
