THE worst place to be born in the UK has officially been named.
A round-up of the lowest ranking locations included heavily populated areas, with a seaside area taking the title.

Areas in the North of England and the Midlands, as well as parts of Scotland, Wales, and the North of Ireland rounded out the list.
According to the Better Lives Index, as cited by The Times, the overall toughest place to be born is East Lindsey in Lincolnshire.
This region, which runs along the North Sea coastline, fell at the bottom of a table rating 359 areas across the UK.
East Lindsey encompasses the seaside resort of Skegness, which is often named one of the UK’s worst seaside towns.
However, some visitors to the region have heaped on the praise for the town.
But this recent ranking is not the result of what visitors think but rather a variety of factors that examine the quality of life in the area.
Behind the popular destination facade, the area faces deep-rooted social and economic problems, according to the new report.
Quality of life
East Lindsey has a high rate of child poverty, according to the new research.
Meanwhile, life expectancy at birth is 79 and economic activity of over-16s is about 50%.
And East Lindsey’s avoidable mortality rate is more than double that of Hart, which was named top of the list of places to be born in the UK.
Relating to deaths that are deemed preventable with healthcare interventions, the avoidable mortality rate of East Lindsey was recorded as 303 per 100,000.
This is considered a rather shocking given Hart reported 131 per 100,000.
Child poverty, pollution levels, housing costs, economic activity among over-16s, and the proportion of 50 to 64-year-olds not in work were also considered in this ranking.
Only half of residents over 16 are economically active – far lower than the 70% recorded in Hart.
So while the district is famously the birthplace of the poet Lord Tennyson, it falls at the bottom of the list of places to be born in the UK.

Other areas
The second-lowest scorer in the round-up is the district of Bolsover in Derbyshire.
Derry City and Strabane in the North of Ireland, Blaenau Gwent in southeast Wales, and Ashfield, Nottinghamshire rounded out the bottom five.
According to the International Longevity Centre (ILC), this data demonstrates how the place a person is born, grows up in, and grows old in can have a sharp impact on how their lives play out.
The research highlighted that life expectancy at birth varies by an average of four years between the top and bottom-ranked areas.

Other major inequalities are noticeable in areas such as household disposable incomes and pensioner poverty.
According to the ILC report, such disparities act as “a stark measure of unequal access to the conditions for a good life”.
Ben Franklin, deputy chief executive of the ILC, said: “Getting policy and support right in every place could deliver huge untapped potential and add billions of pounds to the economy.”
