THE CEO of UnitedHealthcare has been killed outside a New York City hotel in what appeared to be a targeted attack.

Police have yet to confirm the death, but witnesses told the New York Post about the horror attack.
Thompson was shot just after 6:45 am while he was walking into the New York Hilton Midtown, according to reports.
An investor conference was starting at the hotel at 8 am, so the CEO arrived early to prepare, the New York Times reported.
Witnesses told the Post that the suspected shooter wasn’t a hotel guest but was seen milling around the entrance until Thompson arrived.
The suspect then reportedly opened fire and shot Thompson several times before bolting down a nearby alley on a bike.
The gunman’s been described as a white man wearing a cream-colored jacket, black face mask, and black and white sneakers. He also had a gray backpack.
No arrests have been made, and a citywide search has been launched for any suspects.
The investor meeting lasted for about an hour until UnitedHealth CEO Andrew Witty told attendees they were dealing with a “very serious medical situation.”
Pictures taken by the Post show a flurry of police activity outside the hotel early this morning.
The shooting took place just four blocks away from Rockefeller Center, where the well-trafficked Christmas tree lighting will be held in just hours.
Thompson has been with UnitedHealth for 20 years and has been CEO since 2021.
