ALMA Powell was most famously known as the wife of former Secretary of State Colin Powell.
On Monday, July 29, 2024, it was reported she died just a few years after her husband tragically passed away at the age of 84.

Born October 27, 1937, outside of being known as Colin’s wife, Alma is known as an American audiologist.
The Alabama native graduated from Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee, and then went on to study speech pathology and audiology at Emerson College in Boston.
Alma and Colin tied the knot in 1962 and had been together almost 60 years prior to his death.
She was also known as an advocate for children and youth and currently serves as Chair of the Board of Directors for America’s Promise Alliance.
She passed away at the age of 86. She is survived by her three children.
During childhoods marked by constant moving to new homes, we always felt secure, because home was wherever she stood,” her children said in a statement about their mother.
“She was an exemplary role model for us and for the world.
“She served our country, alongside our father, with intelligence and grace.
“We will miss her terribly but take comfort in the fact that she had a life so well-lived and is reunited with our father,” the statement concluded.
What was Colin Powell’s cause of death?
Colin was known as an American politician, diplomat and retired four-star general.
From 2001 to 2005 he also served as the 65th United States Secretary of State and was the first African-American man to hold the title.
His death was announced in a Facebook post by his family, stating that he passed away following complications from Covid-19.
“General Colin L. Powell, former U.S. Secretary of State and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, passed away this morning due to complications from Covid 19,” Powell’s family wrote.
“We have lost a remarkable and loving husband, father, grandfather and a great American.”
At this time it remains unknown if he was vaccinated.
Following his death, former President George W. Bush then released a statement calling him a “great public servant.”
“Laura and I are deeply saddened by the death of Colin Powell,” Bush said. “He was a great public servant, starting with his time as a soldier during Vietnam… Laura and I send Alma and their children out sincere condolences as they remember the life of a great man.”

Over the years, Colin and Alma welcomed three children together.
Their children include: Annemarie, Michael, 58, and Linda, 55.
Today, Annemarie and Linda are known for their careers in the entertainment industry.
Annemarie went on to become a producer while Linda is known as an actress.
Linda is known for her roles in Chicago Fire, House of Cards, Madam Secretary and The Report while Annemarie has famously produced Soaps’ Most Unforgettable Love Stories and Walt Disney World’s 25th Anniversary Party.
Michael decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and went into the world of politics.
He is known as the former Republican chairman of the Federal Communications Commission and current president of the trade association the National Cable & Telecommunications Association.
Michael was appointed to the Federal Communications Commission by President Bill Clinton on November 3, 1997.
