Why is Terence Crawford allowed to fight for a world title despite never competing at super middleweight?
Crawford currently holds the title of WBA super welterweight champion.
He gained the belt by beating Israil Madrimov last August via unanimous decision, a win that also saw him become an undefeated four-division world champion.
However, it has been confirmed that when he steps into the ring on Saturday, August 13, he will be surrendering his title.

Crawford will be moving up TWO weight classes to face Canelo at his natural weight – without the aid of a rehydration clause.

The American boxing star, nicknamed “Bud” will be going into the fight as the underdog.
But if he is able to overcome the odds, he will write his name into the history books by becoming the first male three-weight undisputed champion in the four-belt era.

Canelo vs Crawford will take place on Saturday, September 13.
The prelims will start at 5.30pm ET / 10.30pm BST.
The main show will get underway at 9pm ET / 2am BST (Sunday in the UK).
Ring-walks for the main event will likely begin at approximately 11pm ET / 4am BST.
Allegiant Stadium – the 71,000-seat home of the Las Vegas Raiders – will host the fight.
