Cops blocked off the area in Manhattan after the shooting, which happened just before 9 am.

One woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other later died at the local hospital.

Marissa Galloway, 45, was identified as the first victim. She suffered gunshot wounds to the head and back before she was rushed to the hospital.

Galloway was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Kathleen Lee, 65, was named as the shooter and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lee shot Galloway with a 9mm Glock in the head and back before shooting herself.

Lee was a grandmother to Galloway’s four-year-old child.

Galloway’s one-year-old child, who was sitting in the backseat of her car, was unharmed.

She was involved in a custody dispute with the father of her four-year-old son.

Police confirmed at least five reports of domestic disputes within the family before Galloway and Lee’s deaths.

A motive is still being investigated.

CHAOTIC SCENE

People at the scene near Gracie Mansion, where Mayor Eric Adams resides, said that families pushing strollers ran for cover when the shots rang out.

A witness told the New York Post that he assumed that the shots came from the mansion, which has been the official residence of New York City mayors since 1942.

“I heard yelling, and then I heard shots. I jumped into my doorway for cover,” he told the outlet.

“And then I looked and I saw the lady with the white hair fall onto the sidewalk.

“I thought something might have happened down by Gracie Mansion and she was hit by a stray bullet.”

“When I went closer, I saw there was another woman lying behind the car who was also shot,” the witness said.

The shooting has sparked concerns from New Yorkers on X as one furious resident wrote, “This insanity HAS GOT TO STOP.

“There’s never been so much violence up on the Upper East Side and all my years.. no, 6 DECADES … of living here … not even in the 1970s.”
